In 2013, a fossilized tree trunk dating back 300 million years was discovered, making it the oldest in Switzerland. Embedded in stone, this tree was 2 meters high and 1.4 meters wide. Its wood was naturally replaced by silica, thus ensuring its preservation until today. Prepared and restored, it has been exhibited since 2019 in the Anthropocene room of the Museum of Nature in Sion. More information arrow_right_alt
